Blog #1
Hello! Hope you all are doing great. Today in blog #1 we are going to be talking about a book name Republic.
In chapter one a specific quote stood out to me.
Quote: "well, then, either prove stronger than these men or stay here" (pg 3).
This quote is foreshadowing the argument and discussion. This quote is from Polemarchus to Socrates when he is trying to convince them to stay in the city and not get away. Fairness is the head of stronger over weak.
I'd like to hear more about your thoughts on this quote. Why did you pick it and why is it so interesting?
ReplyDeleteI pick this quote because it shows how Polemarchus refuses "no for an answer". However, we learn that he's competitive and domineering and he and the Socrates are old acquaintances since they both are plainly appealing in some type of playful repartee.
